Preparation for Sunday, December 4

Revelation 2:1,8,12,18; 3:1,7,14

On this Second Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of hope.  Throughout the fall, we have been exploring the words of Jesus to seven ancient churches. The overarching circumstances faced by faithful followers of Christ at this time in history could have easily led to a sense of hopelessness. It is thus so hope-giving to see how in each of His letters to these churches, Jesus began with a vision of Himself, reminding them (and us) of His true identity. During Advent when we focus on Jesus coming to earth, we can sometimes forget that He is no longer a baby. He is all that He reveals Himself to be in Revelation 2 and 3. Today we’ll look at how this can truly ground our hope.
