Reflect
It can be easy sometimes to feel like we’re doing this whole life thing on our own. For many, we’ve seen especially in the last few years how isolating and lonely a place our world can be. For sure, part of living out our faith means living in meaningful community with one another, but I think we sometimes also forget just how near God is to us. We can easily fall into thinking that God is in some far away, distant place “up there,” wherever “up there” is. But Jesus reminds us in our passage today that if we love Jesus and obey his commands, then we get to experience the same kind of unity with Jesus that He has with God. He says, “My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
Apply
It’s not some distant, far-off relationship. God wants to make His home with you. If you’re feeling lonely or distant today, ask God to show you just how close He really is.
