Devotional Guide for Thursday, May 18

Genesis 21:1-7

Reflect

Last week we read how God promised to give a son to Abraham and Sarah, even though they were old. Today we read the fulfillment of that promise.

It had been almost 25 years from the time that God called Abram to go to a land He would show him and make him a father of many nations. Abraham and Sarah didn’t always wait patiently. In fact, 10 years into the waiting, they took matters into their own hands. Yet even though they didn’t wait on the Lord, God still followed through on His promise and Isaac was born.

God’s timing doesn’t always look like what we want the timing to look like. Maybe you are in the middle of something right now where you wish God would respond quicker. Or maybe you have been waiting years for an answer to prayer for a family member or loved one.

Missionary of the Week – Pregnancy Care Centre

Most of us know someone who has faced an unintended pregnancy. At the Pregnancy Care Centre (PCC), women and families will encounter unconditional love and receive accurate information on all their options. For as long as they need, clients of the PCC receive emotional, material, and/or spiritual support to help in areas where they may have felt hopeless. For those experiencing regret, grief, or other complicated emotions after abortion, we have the Abortion Recovery Centre (ARC). Whether the abortion experience took place in the last year or even decades ago, individuals can find hope and healing alongside peer supporters who themselves have walked through a healing journey after abortion.
