1 Samuel 17:17-58
This morning Pastor Lyle will continue in our summer sermon series entitled “David, An Authentic Walk with God.” Today we’ll look at one of the most well-known stories in all the Old Testament, David and Goliath. Because of our familiarity with this amazing account, we can easily lose sight of the magnitude of what happened. Here we have a young shepherd boy facing a literal giant with incredible confidence in God. This morning we’ll take some time and explore David’s preparation for this battle and see that it began long before the showdown with Goliath. David did not wait for this challenge to prepare himself. His capacity to face the giant slowly but surely developed in the months and years previously, as he grew in his walk with God.
