Devotional Guide for Thursday, June 29

Genesis 46: 1-27

Reflect

Have you ever been faced with a decision or move that just seemed to be beyond your ability to understand it? Did you feel like you didn’t have enough information to make an informed decision?

I imagine Jacob to be in this situation in today’s passage. He is being asked to relocate to a land he doesn’t want to go to, but God speaks to him (again).

I love verses 3-4 and how God identifies Himself as the God of the covenant and then goes on to say that He will go with Jacob into Egypt. It is a very vivid picture of who is speaking to Jacob--the God who makes promises and follows through on those promises AND that that very same God is going to go WITH Jacob into this new place.

I don’t know about you, but I sometimes lose sight of the truth that God goes with me into each and every situation I am facing. Today, take some time to thank God for being with you right in the midst of your situation(s).

Missionary of the Week – Nick & Iris (NAB East Asia)

Thank you for lifting us up; ministries in the past quarter were fruitful. We completed four trips to other provinces for evang*lism, discipleship, and giving counseling sessions. We visited some chu*ch leaders in a village and encouraged them to stand firm in faith. Since the easing of nationwide COVID restrictions and lockdowns early this year, we are joyful to meet some friends who have not been able to see for several years. Our heartfelt appreciation to your continual intercession for His every presence to strengthen national believers, to draw non-believers (in particular, the leaders of authorities) close to Himself, and to protect His servants serving in those countries where Chr*stians are under persecution because of faith.
