Exodus 12:1-30

Reflect

In this passage, we witness a pivotal moment in the history of God's people. As the time of their liberation from Egypt approaches, the Lord instructs Moses and Aaron to prepare the Israelites for their freedom. God commands them to observe the first Passover, a sacred and profound event that would become a lasting reminder of His deliverance.

At the heart of this divine command is the sacrificial lamb. Each household was to take an unblemished lamb, slaughter it, and spread its blood on the doorposts. This active obedience signified the Israelites' trust in God's promise of protection and salvation.  The blood of the lamb served as a shield, safeguarding them from the angel of death that would pass through the land.

Centuries later, the true significance of this ancient ritual would be revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. As we reflect on Exodus 12, we are reminded of the profound truth that salvation comes through the blood of the Lamb. Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross became the ultimate Passover event, ensuring freedom for all who believe in Him. Just as the Israelites were called to trust in the blood of the lamb for their physical salvation, we are called to trust in the blood of Jesus for our spiritual salvation.

Let us cherish and embrace the incredible gift of Jesus, the Lamb of God, who sets us free from sin and delivers us from injustice through our active submission and trust in Him.
