Psalm 147
Reflect
Praise the Lord!
Today’s psalm starts with a reminder for us that it is good and fitting for us to sing praises to our God, and then it goes on to list just a few of the reasons why God is deserving of our worship.
Tomorrow morning many of us will probably be sitting in a church somewhere taking in one of the Sunday services. We often spend a good amount of our time together on Sundays in worship, singing songs of praise to God. And it can be easy to do that without really thinking about it, because it’s just the way that we do things.
But what if we were to pause and take a moment before going to church tomorrow to think about our own reasons for why God is worthy of our worship? What kinds of things would be on your list? How has God shown up in your life, or how have you seen God show up in the world around you? Then the next time you’re prompted to worship God, whether it’s in your car, your kitchen, or in church tomorrow, keep all of those things in the front of your mind and sing to Him out of a full heart of gratitude and praise.
