Galatians 5:16-18
Reflect
I am upset. How could my husband forget to shut his alarm off? I have to get out of bed to shut it off! Grumble! Grumble! Now I can’t sleep anymore and all is miserable.
How could that lady be so rude and barge in front of me!
Forgive that person that wronged me?
Why evangelize or volunteer, when the couch is so comfortable?
“For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit.”
Don’t we know these situations all too well? We struggle with these matters of the heart that tie us down. We are selfish, often behaving entitled. We tend to cater to our flesh and “gratify the desires of the flesh.”
Apply
The turning point comes with acknowledging that the flesh rules us and we can’t change it by ourselves. Then pray and invite the Holy Spirit to change your heart. To live by him and not your own flesh.
Over and over I have seen God answer that prayer! And every time I am wondering why it took me so long to admit and rely on God.
May we get to the turning point faster and more readily all the time as we walk by the Spirit and rely on God’s power instead of our own strength.
