Ephesians 2:11-18
Reflect
In the passage today we continue to see Paul address the strife between Jews and Gentiles that originated with Gentiles not keeping the law. Paul points out that since Jesus fulfilled the law and paid our penalty for being unable to keep it, the reason for this strife is gone. Jesus has destroyed the barrier between Jew and Gentile, he has taken down the wall of hostility. Christ reconciled both to God through the cross. Jew and Gentile were brought together as one family, unified in the work of Jesus on the cross. They now had more in common than not.
The powerful truth of our reconciliation with God is cause for so much joy. We are reconciled to God but also to each other. We have so much more in common than what is different about us. We are unified in the work of Jesus on the cross and the truth that we are the body of Christ, coming together in all our differences for the purpose of glorifying God.
