Devotional Guide for Friday, October 6

Ephesians 2:6-10

Reflect

What a beautiful picture of grace! We have done nothing on our end to earn grace and salvation, but God has truly given us a gift. You might be wondering, “What does this gift look like?”

(1) We’ve been raised from death and given an opportunity for new life (v6). Christ’s death and resurrection has made it possible for us to live a new life presently and eternally. Bad habits, past hurts, and sin may still affect us at times, but it no longer gives shape or worth to our lives, and we are fully free in who God made us to be.

(2) We now share in the power and authority of Jesus as he seats us in the heavenly realms. We share in Christ’s rule (v6)! Through Christ, God considers us worthy to sit at the head table.

3. We’re the direct result of God’s artistic skill and craftsmanship (v10)! God has intentionally formed you and I with the utmost care, affection, love and care to make us beautiful, unique, special, and His.

Pray

Lord, it is beyond me to try and understand the full depth of what You’ve done for me. Work in my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may encounter You afresh today. Help me to be faithful and obedient to the ‘good work’ that You’ve called me to. Amen.
