Ephesians 5:3-7
Reflect
Brian Welch, guitarist and founding member of the metal band known as ‘Korn’, came to faith in the early 2000’s. He was coming off an addictive lifestyle of methamphetamines, and he had a powerful encounter with Jesus that changed his life forever. He struggled with his addiction, but after accepting Christ, he shares his story of redemption and sobriety unapologetically to many. There is a distinction between his previous lifestyle and his present one.
When the Apostle Paul writes to the church of Ephesus in our text today, the issue is not a matter of salvation but identification. As children of God, we imitate God and His attributes, but those who are living a life of immorality, greed, and foolish talk are living a life that are not reflective of God. Paul encourages the Christians not to engage in disobedience, but to live in a way that pleases God (thanksgiving and right conduct). Christians live differently because we’ve truly been changed by Christ.

Pause and ask the Holy Spirit to help you do a moral inventory of your life to see if there is anything you are doing that you shouldn’t be doing.
If there is some particular habit or sin that is more difficult to stop, reach out to someone you trust to walk alongside you.
