Philippians 2:5-11
Reflect
In culture right now it seems like a lot of value is placed on taking care of ourselves, doing what is right for us, getting rid of or canceling the people in our lives that don’t agree with us or are too much. There’s a lot of focus inward. A lot of focus on the self. A lot of focus on making decisions based on what is good for us without considering the people around us.
The passage today tells us how to relate to one another. And it’s very different from the model we see around us! Verse 5 says that in our relationships with each other, we are to have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. The mindset of Jesus was humility. A humility that “made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant.” The picture of how we are to love each other is a very different picture from what is presented on TikTok or Instagram.

What does it look like for us to be humble in our relationships? What does it look like for us to take on the humility of Christ? To think of others first, and to prioritize serving others? Take a minute to prayerfully answer these questions as you go about your day.
