Galatians 5:1-15

Today Pastor Dave will be continuing our series through the book of Galatians titled “Dwelling in Freedom” with a look at the start of Chapter 5, as Paul gets practical about what it might look like for us to live as free people. Paul tells us that it's not for nothing that we’ve received this Freedom through Jesus Christ alone. It's not just some nice thing that we’ve been made free, it needs to result in some actual lived out freedom in our lives. Paul sums up our lived-out freedom in verse 6: “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” How we treat the people around us, how we show them love is why we were made free. Paul closes out this passage of Scripture by quoting Jesus, when He was asked what the greatest commandment is. After stating that the most important is to “Love the Lord your God…” Jesus says to “Love your neighbour as yourself”.

Paul reminds us that faith is not merely an intellectual assent, but a living trust in God’s grace that expresses itself in acts of love. Join us today as we unpack what this might look like for us.
