Devotional Guide for Friday, December 1

Colossians 4:7-11

Reflect

Tychicus, Onesimus, and Aristarchus are just a few names listed here in Paul’s writing – that's quite the brotherhood! These were real, normal, and ordinary people who helped Paul and his ministry. Tychicus was a trusted assistant. Onesimus was a runaway slave. Aristarchus was a devoted companion. In the face of adversity, these people brought support, encouragement, and vitality to Paul and the work that God had called him to do.

If you ever want to accomplish something phenomenal for the Kingdom of God, it’s never done in isolation, but with a team of beloved, trusted, and faithful individuals with a deep bond.

In my third year of university, 11 friends and I (from different churches) felt convicted to pray for our city. As we gathered to pray, the Spirit was leading us to start a Sunday Night of Worship (SNOW) with young adults from different churches. Our first night consisted of just our team of 12, but we continued to persevere despite discouragement. After encountering several adversities together, the Spirit of God moved and lead over 200 young adults to gather and worship monthly.

Maybe your context is not to start a ministry, but to continue faithful in a school, workplace, or relationship that has proven to be challenging. Who have you invited into your context to support, encourage, and pray with and for you regularly?
