Devotional Guide for Tuesday, December 19

Psalm 30, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Reflect

When I was single and looking for a husband, I often called out to God, “What is your will?” When I thought about going to short term mission, there it was again. “What is your will?” Any big decision brought up the question of what is God’s will in our life? And then it is summarized by Paul in his letter to the Thessalonians. His will for our life is simply to rejoice always. Joy is more than just happiness and "having fun".

What does Jesus Himself say about rejoicing? Rejoice that your names are written in heaven! (Luke 10:20) It’s a deep inner joy in our relationship with the Father through the Son. Pray without ceasing. Have a constant communication going. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6). Give thanks in everything! Not for everything, but in every circumstance.

Thankfulness will change your entire perspective! (Matthew 6:33) But a)seek first, b)His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be c)added to you because God knows BEST and HE will do the rest!

Apply

“Just do it“. Let God’s Spirit come alongside and train you. What freedom to rejoice in everything!
He has you covered! Now and in eternity!
