Mark 6:32-44
This morning Pastor Lyle continues a series of sermons around the theme, “Dwelling in Christ,” in which we are focusing on a number of the questions that Jesus asked His followers. Today, we come to a question that is part of the miracle Jesus performed when He fed 5000 people (and that’s only counting the men). It’s significant to note that Jesus did not produce the countless number of loaves and fish out of nothing, nor did He provide the first five loaves and two fish Himself. Instead, He asked His disciples, “How many loaves do you have?” He didn’t ask them to contribute what they didn’t have, nor did He scold them for only providing an amount that seemed hopelessly inadequate. Rather, He took their humble provision and multiplied it in ways far beyond what they could ever imagine.
Apply
- In what ways do you feel hopelessly inadequate to accomplish anything meaningful for God?
- If Jesus asked, “What do you have to serve Me?” how would you answer?
