Matthew 9:27-34
Reflect
Though Jesus never referred to Himself as Son of David, this is the second time in this Gospel that this title is given to Jesus. Clearly a growing number of people are identifying that Jesus is the long-anticipated Messiah that has come to set God’s people free.
Perception is a very powerful item to grasp. Many relationships either thrive or dive, based on perceptions. If one person in the relationship has a skewed perception of the other, it can be disastrous.
Political ideologies feed off providing a perception of their preferred leader as being the winner for the crowds.
Those being healed in today’s passage benefit from an enlightened perception of Jesus which revolutionizes their life.
The Pharisees viewing the same miracles, dig in a deeper perception that what others saw as Jesus’ acts of merciful love, were acts of evil.
Perception is the massive influence on how we come to conclusions and how we take experiences in. Our perceptions are guided by our past, beliefs, values, and hopes. Perceptions affect how we understand reality, which then guides our behaviour.
How has your perception of Jesus been changing?
Based upon your behaviour, what perception would a person that is watching you have of Jesus?
