Devotional Guide for Thursday, February 8

Matthew 9:35-38

Reflect

Do you ever pause and look around at people? The people on the train or bus with you. The people waiting to order their morning coffee, or on the street corner waiting to cross the street. What is your response to the people you see?

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them,…” (v36). Jesus notices people. He noticed the crowds and His response was to have compassion on them. Now, it is easy to dismiss this response because it was Jesus, but I’d like to challenge us to consider responding like Jesus to the people around us.

Jesus saw the great need for the people to know the gospel. This need Jesus saw in the crowds is the same need in the people you and I see today. The harvest, the number of people who need the truth of the gospel, is plentiful and just like in Jesus’ day, we also need those who will go out and share the good news of the gospel.

May we all accept the call to be the workers Jesus is looking for today.

Pray for Missions Fest Alberta

Our goal is to help individuals find the place where their interests and abilities can best be used around the world. Our Purpose: to inform and celebrate what God is doing all over the world; to educate Christians about their responsibility and involvement in world evangelization and missions; to challenge believers to pray, give, send, and go. Prayer is the most important part of this ministry—it is only through the prayers of God’s people that lives are changed. Missions Fest plans a 3-day family-oriented missions conference held annually in February in Edmonton. MFA has played an important role in bringing life-changing experiences to many people, altering the direction of their lives and helping them to become Kingdom-minded as they learn where God would have them get involved in the Great Commission.
