Devotional Guide for Thursday, July 11

Philippians 2:19-24

Reflect

If you’ve ever been on a search committee, you know the value of a good personal recommendation. A person who knows your candidate well and can speak with authority about their abilities, strengths and growth areas.

Timothy is a young(er) man who has faithfully served alongside Paul. He has demonstrated his faithfulness to Paul, but more importantly, he is faithful to fulfilling his duties to the gospel in the face of adversity. Paul previously mentions that not all believers in Rome are pulling for Paul but are causing trouble. Yet Timothy is one who is a true friend and co-worker in the gospel.

Who in your life would you say has been a Timothy to you, has stood with you as a friend but also as a co-labourer in life? How would you describe them to your friends? Who are you being a Timothy to?

May we be people who have those who are encouragers to us, but that we are also an encouragement to.

Pray for Daunavan Buyer – Resurgence Ministries

I am the associate Director of Resurgence Initiatives. I’m responsible for overseeing all that we do in Edmonton and represent Resurgence as an itinerant minister. Resurgence exists to revive churches (through partnerships, unity gatherings, city-wide prayer initiatives, itinerant speaking and equipping), reach people (through regular outreaches, partnering with missions’ organizations, mission trips across Canada including trips to the Canadian North & other First Nations reserves) and release leaders (through practical leadership training, a leadership podcast, and providing platforms and opportunities for people across the city). We seek to do this in a way that is kingdom-minded, whole, spirit-led, relational, and fruitful.
