Philippians 2:25-30
Reflect
Epaphroditus is a key player here: he was a member of the Philippian church, delivered a financial gift to Paul from the church, and stayed on in Rome to help with the ministry. He was the church’s messenger, but more importantly, he was Paul’s colleague in the work of the ministry. The Philippians had sent him to care for Paul’s needs, and now Paul is sending him back to care for their needs.
Epaphroditus is a wonderful, yet challenging, example of selfless servitude. His dedication, even during severe illness, showcases his willingness to risk his life for the gospel and for his fellow believers.
We have many phenomenal volunteers at McKernan who have dedicated their lives to serving others (we thank you), and there are many more who are serving behind the scenes (we thank you). Let’s continue to embrace opportunities to provide aid and support to others and celebrate those who are already doing so. Like Paul and Epaphroditus, serving requires great sacrifice, but it brings immense joy and fulfillment to both the giver and the receiver.

Take time to appreciate those who are serving others in the church.
Take time to appreciate those in our community or workplaces who are serving others, and then spend some time in prayer either with them (if there’s an opportunity) or for them.
