Proverbs 11:1-15
Reflect
Healing prayer is a ministry offered at our church and the appointments are confidential as well as what is discussed. I have had the privilege of seeing God work in so many ways during healing prayer that I get very excited. There have been times when I’ve come out of the prayer room telling everyone how good and amazing God is. People, of course, want to know the how’s and why’s of my statement but keeping confidence is of utmost importance. (v13)
Verses 9, 11 and 13 tell us our words can be used as a weapon or a tool, hurting relationships or building them up. Sadly, it is often easier to destroy than to build.
Psalm 141:3 says, “Set a guard over my mouth, Lord: keep watch over the door of my lips”.
In Ephesians 6:10-18, we are told to put on our armour. Part of the armour is the helmet of salvation. When praying this part, it might be a good practice to add “Put a guard over my mouth so that whatever I speak today would be glorifying to you Lord”.

(NIV commentary) "Every person you meet today is either a demolition site or a construction opportunity. Your words will make a difference. Will they be weapons for destruction or tools for construction?"
