Merry Christmas
1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.”
The smell of fresh cinnamon buns fills my nose as I wake to my youngest siblings standing beside the couch where I lie at my family’s place. “Merry Christmas!” they yell, and I’m reminded of the excitement I used to feel on Christmas morning when I too was three years old.
But my love for Christmas has only grown as I’ve learned to hear the quiet voice of God speaking through it all—the laughter, the warmth, the stillness. It’s His gentle reminder that the same love that filled a manger still reaches for me today. Christmas isn’t just a story of a baby’s birth; it’s the beginning of God’s plan to show us what love truly is.
Because He loved first, we can love freely. When we listen for His voice and respond with grace, we mirror that first act of love—the gift of Jesus.
This Christmas, slow down long enough to hear His whisper of love—and let your love point back to Him, the One who loved first.
