MINISTRY PARTNER of the WEEK
Hope Mission
Read more online in our Outreach magazine, p12.
What started out as a soup kitchen in Edmonton’s inner-city (1929) has grown into a Christian not-for-profit social care agency caring for impoverished and homeless men, women, and children in Alberta. Our desire is to provide compassionate care and hope to hurting, hungry, and homeless people. Some of the ways we do this (every day):
- Provide basic and emergency care to more than 800 people
- Serve roughly 1700 meals
- Shelter more than 600 people
- Faith-based addiction treatment programs
- Facilitates after-school recreation and hot meal programs for children
- Summer camps for inner-city children and youth
- Operates a year-round Youth Sports Centre
- 24/7 Rescue Van provides emergency care for people in need
- Counselors, chaplains, and volunteers visit people on the street, in prisons, hospitals
- Our Bargain Shoppe sells clothing, blankets, and workwear to help offset our programs and services
We are resuming our daily chapel services where churches and volunteers are invited to come and share the Gospel with the vulnerable people that we serve. If you're interested in becoming one of our volunteer chapel presenters, please call Benny Kiza (587-985-3266) or email spiritualcare@hopemission.com/.
