Preparation for Sunday, August 7

Isaiah 6:1-13

Today in our series of short prayers of the Bible, Pastor Melissa explores Isaiah’s commissioning experience in his vision of the throne room of God, his response to God’s holiness, and to the call “Who will go for us?”. This vision marked Isaiah for the rest of his life and sustained him to be a prophet to a nation that repeatedly chose to disobey God. Not the most fulfilling of vocations; to know that your role is to speak truth and be ignored and derided. Yet God never promises His followers that kingdom work would be precisely what we dream and expect, full of delight and continual fulfillment. It can be, but it also has significant challenges as we obey faithfully. God does, however, promise to be with us and sustain us in every moment.
