Acts 18:1-17
Reflect
Paul’s time in Corinth is filled with highs and lows. We see in our passage today where Paul shifts his attention and preaching away from the Jews of Corinth and focuses on the Gentiles. After he makes this shift, we read of the conversion of Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, and his family. Also, we see how the successor to Crispus, Sosthenes, fails in an attempt to have Paul arrested. It is interesting to note that Paul in his salutation in the letter of 1 Corinthians greets “our brother Sosthenes” which may indicate that sometime after this, Sosthenes may too have made a decision to follow Jesus.
In the face of adversity will we continue to follow Jesus and call those who are the source of our adversity to follow as well? If you are facing adversity regarding your faith walk, don’t lose heart. God is with you and he is able to do more than what we can ever ask or imagine. Keep following Jesus.
