Acts 21:27-39
Reflect
This is complete anarchy! Although Luke may be hyperbolizing by stating that all the city was stirred, we can still imagine the mob that physically dragged Paul from the temple only to beat him mercilessly but not fatally. This was not your typical stroll through the park.
Roman authorities had to arrest Paul to hopefully disarm the riot; however, the rioters pursued and pressed Paul so closely that Paul had to be carried by Roman force. By now, you’d think that Luke’s audience would have images of Jesus treated with such brutality.
Your values dictate your behaviour. The stronger your values, the stronger you are willing to live by them. If you value family, then you try your best to be intentional with your family even during the busy weeks; if you value friendship, you’ll make time to spend time together.
Paul clearly did not value his own life which is clearly seen through his imprisonments and beatings. He valued something far greater--the gospel and the opportunity to proclaim the gospel. He centred his entire life following Jesus.

Are there any areas in your life that require reshuffling so that your faith remains centre stage?
With courage and faith, Paul was willing to give up his life. What areas might the Lord be leading you to live in courage and faith?
