Devotional Guide for Saturday, November 5

Acts 21:39-22:22

Reflect

Paul had spent his entire life devoted to studying the Scripture and rigourously following all the rules. By his discipline he rose the ranks to the highest position as a Jewish man. He passionately fought against the followers of The Way, those who followed Jesus, until he himself had an intimate, personal encounter with Jesus. That changed everything for him, and this became his testimony.

All of a sudden, Paul went from saying things like “look at what I’ve done to earn respect and deserve to be taken seriously”, to saying things like, “look at what Jesus did! It’s only because of Him that I can do what I get to do, and this is why you should listen.” It’s no longer about what Paul had done, but it’s all about the grace of Jesus.

Are there ways that you are trying to find your identity and worth in the things  you have done or accomplished? What would it look like for you today to know more deeply the grace of Jesus, and that it is Him and His work that makes you worthy?
