Acts 24:1-27
Reflect
Felix’s character is interesting; Luke writes about Felix as someone who is unwilling to decide no matter how obvious it was. He was a man that was unwilling to decide for the right, so he decided not to decide. Felix was putting off Paul’s verdict even though he knew “the Way” (v11); he was alarmed or frightened by Paul’s preaching on righteousness, self-control and judgement, which indicates that he may have been convicted by the Holy Spirit although clouded with greed (v26). From this we can see that Felix procrastinates, has an insatiable greed, and is a people pleaser (v27).
On the other hand, Paul shows us the exact opposite. He takes the opportunity to share his faith in front of the governor and other top officials, and shows courage by challenging the governor about his facts. Even in the face of trial, he remains calm.

When we are faced with challenges, and we are given the opportunity to make decisions that represent godly or ungodly choices, will we be like Paul or Felix? Are there any decisions in your life that require a calm courage to speak the truth in love, and make difficult but right choices?
If so, pray that God would help you through the power of the Holy Spirit to remain calm yet courageous when presenting the truth.
