Devotional Guide for Thursday, January 12

John 4:1-26

Reflect

There are some beautiful pictures to today’s passage. The first is that Jesus sees the Samaritan woman as an individual first, and even though He could have distanced himself from her due to her status as a woman, a woman with a questionable background and as a Samaritan, Jesus doesn’t do that. He sees someone who needs the living water only He can provide.

The second beautiful picture is the water Jesus offers is far superior to the water in the well that Jacob dug.

So, what do we do with these pictures? I pray we are we willing to see people as dearly loved individuals as Jesus sees them and that we do not allow our preconceived ideas cloud our view and love for others. I also pray we will seek out Jesus to provide us water that fulfils needs in ways the world can never do.

Pray for Brett and Riana Loewen-Power to Change

Brett and Riana Loewen serve at the University of Alberta with the university student ministry Power to Change (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). Power to Change exists to help students take their next step towards Jesus. We long to see every student walking closer to Jesus and experiencing life in Him.
Brett and Riana have a passion to help students know and experience Jesus, seeing His relevance in all of life. They live out this desire as they disciple Christian students, lead Bible studies, care for students in the larger student body, and create spaces for students to discover Jesus. Brett and Riana have two amazing sons named Everett and Max. In their spare time, Brett and Riana love reading, exploring the mountains and enjoying a good cup of coffee.
