Devotional Guide for Tuesday, February 28

John 17: 20-26

Reflect

This prayer of Jesus always touches me. Jesus is about to die, and soon be gone from His disciples. It is like His “last will and testament” where He expresses a deep desire that His disciples live in unity. This unity is the means by which the world knows Jesus Christ, causing re-birth into a family filled with joy and warmth. God desires unity with us so much that He became one of us through Jesus Christ, drawing us into relationship with the Trinity.

Apply

Have I contributed to Jesus’ desire by promoting unity among my fellow believers? There is a prayer in the Lectio Divina (May 17, 2018) that reads: “Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and Father of all peoples, we believe in You and we know that You loved Jesus with a deep and trusting, lasting love. Let Your Holy Spirit pour out His love into the hearts of all those who believe in Jesus, our Saviour and Shepherd. Let this love unite us in one common bond of understanding and respect for one another and let that love lead us to live for one another and serve one another for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.”
