Devotional Guide for Wednesday, March 1

Hebrews 1:1-4

Reflect

Today we launch a short series on the letter to the Hebrews. This letter is filled with crucial teaching that will enhance our prep time for Holy Week and Easter (Lent). As you read, meditate, pray, and allow God to guide you in this compelling journey.

These first four verses concisely provide the themes for most of the letter which follows. Read slowly as God provides truths that cause us to reach well beyond our grasp.

In verse 2, the author proclaims that God spoke in many ways prior to the Incarnate Jesus. Since Jesus, the Father’s voice would always go through Jesus. When the Word became flesh, everything changed. Though God had spoken through prophets before, Jesus is no mere prophet. He is the full radiance of God. God manifested Himself to humanity by Jesus Christ. Everything that Jesus was, everything that He said, and everything that Jesus did by dying on the cross, rising from the dead and ascending to the right hand of the Majesty is God’s Word to us. God said all that for you and me. We need to listen to what He did and be in awe of His motivation to love us so extravagantly.

What voices are you listening to that are louder than the Word of God?
Pause and express your heart to God for making the unfathomable approachable through Jesus.
