Devotional Guide for Monday, March 13

Hebrews 6:13-7:10

Reflect

How do we know that a promise will be kept? In earlier days a handshake was often all that was needed to ensure an agreement would be maintained. Today we often rely upon legal documents and agencies to assure that significant contracts are fulfilled.  In light of the penalties that can be imposed by the court, going back on a promise can be costly.

What about God? How do we know that God will follow through? Our passage today reminds us that there is no higher court and no greater authority than God Himself. When God makes a commitment, it is the very nature of God to fulfil each and every promise He makes. God cannot lie. When we read a promise that God makes to us in His Word, we can count on the fact that He will do it.

What are the promises of God that you are holding on to today? Trust that God will, in His perfect timing, complete each promise to the fullest degree.
