Hebrews 12:1-4
Reflect
Last July, together with my sons Matthew and Landon, Pastor Dave and other friends, I had the chance to run one leg of a seven-part race that covered a total of 160 kilometers. Together as a team we ran for just over 25 hours in the sun and the rain, right through the night and finished 100 miles. My segment of the race turned out to be the final 18 kilometers, so I was the member of our team that got the privilege of crossing the finish line. Throughout the duration of the race, as a team we would go to the transition points and wait for our team member to come in to pass on the timing chip. Here we would, with lots of cheering, welcome our teammate in and send the next one off. Each one of us encouraged and contributed to the team effort.
This passage reminds me of that experience. So much fun, and so much work, together we share in the journey and celebrate each member’s contribution.
