John 12:12-19; Romans 12:17-18
We are currently exploring a number of “practices” that give shape to what it means to be in right relationship with God, with one another and with our neighbour. Today we will look at the practice of “Forgiveness/Reconciliation,” with emphasis on reconciliation. On this Palm Sunday, we rightly celebrate the truth that Jesus is King. While it’s one thing to acknowledge this reality with songs that include the word “Hosanna,” it’s quite another to submit to the reality of His Kingship in our everyday lives. If Jesus is King, we are to follow His direction. Romans 12 speaks to what it means to follow King Jesus in our relationships and includes the challenge that “as far as it depends on us, we live at peace with one another.” Previously, we saw that this begins with forgiveness, a releasing of our hurt and resentment to God. Today, we’ll look at how to take next steps to bring God’s healing and restoration to our relationships.
