John 20:1-10
Reflect
Throughout history there have been developments that have drastically changed our world. Depending on who you talk to, the top five will vary. Some that I have come across include: the printing press, the light bulb, the compass, antibiotics, the personal computer. Granted, these are critical developments that have impacted how we live and communicate. However, in my understanding, nothing comes close to being as important as the empty tomb.
With the empty tomb, Jesus’ claim to be the Messiah are further solidified. Hope that was crushed at the crucifixion has new life breathed into it. We have hope, not only that Jesus is the Messiah, but that the resurrected Jesus has conquered sin, death, and the grave. We now can live in the light of an empty tomb, which means death does not have the last word. We live today enjoying the conveniences that inventions provide us, but those are merely tools we use. Jesus’ resurrection changes everything. Living, He showed us how to live. Dying, He paid a debt we could never pay. Rising, He gives us life with hope and promise forever! Nothing can compare with that. Thank you, Jesus.
