Devotional Guide for Tuesday, April 11

John 20:11-18

Reflect
Imagine with me that you are chosen to join a team in your field of expertise at a national level.  What a thrill! However, being accepted in this team does not mean you can take a break from being actively involved. You have to go!

Reading today’s portion through, I stumble over the words of Jesus, “Stop clinging to Me…” (v17)
Mary, who was part of Jesus’ special team must have been devastated at His death. Then the big surprise of His body gone and angels in His place, and then to hear her name said by the “coach”. She must have been totally ecstatic to find out that Jesus was alive!
Is the clinging referred to as a friendly, relieved hug? Or, “I better hang on. Otherwise, I might lose you again.”?

We are told that Jesus says, “Stop”. He is aware that they can’t stay in front of the empty tomb. There is work to be done. He needs to leave to the Father, so the Holy Spirit will come and she needs to Go!  Tell the news! Jesus is alive!

Apply
Rejoice! Jesus knows you by name! If you trust in Him for your salvation, you are part of God’s family.  Don’t stop at that assurance. Go and tell the BEST news ever!
