Devotional Guide for Thursday, April 13

John 21:1-13

Reflect

How has your week been? Are you still living off the excitement of the Easter weekend?
As I read today’s passage, I am struck by how these seven went back to something that was very familiar to them--fishing--following all that happened with the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Yet even though they returned to something familiar, I am encouraged by their willingness to respond to Jesus’ instruction to cast their net on the other side of the boat. To a seasoned fisherman, they would have known this was a waste of time. But to these men who walked with Jesus, they were willing to do what was not usual, because they witnessed what Jesus did in their lives in and others lives.

As we continue to walk forward post-Easter, I pray you will continue to live into a new daily life filled with Jesus.

Missionary of the Week – Priscilla Project

In India, women are mainly limited to household work, which is not seen as work, so many feel like they don’t have any self-worth. They are very poor, so they go for daily jobs like maidservants or on construction sites, etc. The Priscilla project provides these women with skills training such as cosmetology and tailoring with the purpose of earning much needed income, increasing their self-worth, increasing their stature at home and in society. During training, they study the Bible, evangelism and discipleship in the morning and the afternoon is practical skills training. As a result, they have an opportunity to explain the gospel of Jesus Christ as a way of life to these women. The ladies are very happy with their newfound knowledge and are excited to go back to their homes and start putting this knowledge into practice.
