Devotional Guide for Tuesday, April 25

Genesis 4:17-5:31

Reflect

Genealogies are often skipped during private Bible reading, and yet they are there for a reason. We can note that everyone dies. The curse (physical death) placed upon Adam and Eve because of sin is evident in every generation that follows, with the exception of Enoch who does not experience death because of his walk with God. Humanity manages to multiply and be fruitful, but with an ever increasing wicked and evil heart, resulting in exile, shame, and an appetite for sin. We can note two groups emerging – those who showed indifference to sin and evil, and those who call on the name of the Lord. Genealogies are important to show God fulfilling His promises, and that He values each person, knowing them by name, pointing out their giftings, showing that everyone is a unique creation of God.

We have “Family Tree” books in our home. We often refer to them to clarify a doubt. We see that our families have done a great job of multiplying and being fruitful, but our main concern is if they are in the line of those who call on the name of the Lord! Romans 10:13 says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”. Pray for the salvation of your family today.
