Devotional Guide for Thursday, April 27

Genesis 7

Reflect

As we continue to read the story of Noah, we come to a part in the story where God tells Noah to get into the ark. The rain hasn’t started yet; in fact, Noah entered the ark 7 days before it started to rain. But Noah didn’t wait for the rain to start before listening to God or getting in the boat. He obeyed right away.

Unfortunately, I don’t always see this type of response (Noah’s immediate obeying) from those in the world. They like to play the waiting game – wait till the last possible moment to decide for Jesus or to obey God. But like those outside the ark, waiting too long has its consequences.

Apply

What is your response time like in relation to God? Is there something you are putting off that God is asking you to do? If so, what’s holding you back?
