Genesis 13:1-18
Reflect
If you have followed Jesus for any amount of time, I’m sure the journey has had its share of ups and down. Times when you have felt close to God and experienced intimacy and growth. And times when you stumbled in your faith or felt far from God. I know I have experienced both of these seasons.
Abraham did too. God calls him to leave his home and journey to a land God would show him. He does, but on the way, in Egypt he makes some mistakes. I can imagine he went from a high to a low pretty quickly.
As he journeys back the way he originally travelled, he sees the altar he built when he first called on the Lord. He doesn’t stop the journey because of his mistakes but calls on the Lord again. The promises of God weren’t dependent on the faithfulness of Abraham. And with us too, God’s faithfulness is not dependent on ours. When we mess up, we can come back to Him and begin again.
