Preparation for Sunday, May 7

Galatians 5:13-26

We are currently exploring a number of “practices” that give shape to what it means to be in right relationship with God, with one another and with our neighbour.  Today we will conclude our exploration of the practice of “Kingdom Participation” by looking at how the fruit of God’s Spirit are developed in the daily realities of our relationships with one another. If we are to significantly represent Christ and His Kingdom in the world, these character traits need to be increasingly evident in our lives. Our Western mindset often tries to grow character as an individual project, which is counter to God’s design. He has given us the gift of community, not only to serve together, but to grow together into maturity.

Apply

  • To what degree has your spiritual growth become an individual endeavour as opposed to God’s design for us to grow in the context of authentic community?
  • In what ways are you intentionally walking with other believers in a journey that seeks to give God’s Spirit greater access to grow your character?
  • Ask God to work in your heart and in the hearts of all who will be attending our services on-line or in person today.

Pray

  • Pray that those who are new to the church will be welcomed and find meaningful relationships.
  • Pray for our Children’s Ministry Pastor, Jerilyn Bayer
  • Pray for the Children’s Ministry Associate, Annette Faszer, and for the Children’s Ministry Assistants: Abigail, Blythe, Clarissa, Domina, Jenna, Sarah, Sunita, and Sylvie.
