Preparation for Sunday, May 14

Matthew 9:36-38; Colossians 4:2-6

We are currently exploring a number of “practices” that give shape to what it means to be in right relationship with God, with one another and with our neighbour. Today we turn our attention to being in right relationship with our neighbour, focusing on the practice of “Intercession.” In calling us to reflect God’s love and truth to a world apart from Christ, we need to recognize that only God can draw people into authentic relationship with Himself. While this certainly does not mean we are to be passive in sharing our faith, it does call us to prayerful dependence as we engage any outreach effort. I once heard someone share a convicting question they had been asked, “If God answered all your prayers from this past week, who would have come to saving faith in Christ?”
