Genesis 33:1-20

Reflect

Jacob and Esau have quite the past, and we saw in the last chapter how, as Jacob prepared to meet Esau, he sent many gifts and had very thoughtfully prepared for how he might favour with his brother after all they had been through.

It can be an incredibly vulnerable thing to seek the forgiveness of someone that we have wronged, or of someone when we know that there is significant tension in the relationship. You never really know how they’re going to react or respond. But if reconciliation is something that you feel like God is calling you towards in a specific relationship, it can be a really beautiful thing. Psalm 133 says, “How good a pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”

Every situation is unique, and the timing might not be right now, but is there someone in your life that God is inviting you to reach out to, to start walking towards reconciliation? What would it look like for you to take the next step towards seeking reconciliation?
