Devotional Guide for Thursday, June 15

Genesis 36:1-43

Reflect

For the past several chapters we have been reading about the life of Jacob, but today we get a glimpse of the “other brother” who sometimes gets forgotten.

In this chapter we learn there are twelve tribes from Esau’s family, just like there are twelve tribes from Jacob’s. It appears Esau has also enjoyed a blessing like his brother.

Esau’s story is filled with flaws and acting out. Doing things to spite his father. Yet during all this disobedience, God is still able to bring good out of the flaws of Esau and his brother Jacob. God is still able to advance the covenant he had established.

Esau is a reminder to me that God can work with good and not so good situations. No one is beyond being used by God. But at the same time, no one is beyond experiencing the consequences that come from poor decision making.

Don’t give up hope. God is at work in us, in the world around us, and in the lives of the people we love so dearly.

Pastor Terry

Missionary of the Week – Calmar Baptist Church (church plant)

It has been a season of change here at Calmar Community Baptist Church (CCBC) and we are so grateful to God for His love and mercy as we have struggled through some difficult times. In April 2022, the congregation voted to accept Gerald Barkman as their new pastor. On May 8, 2022 and installation service was held to commemorate the occasion. It is sobering to think of the past 2-3 years and what CCBC has gone through but over and over we hear from people in the church who are confident of what God has planned. (Phil 1:6) The prayers and financial support of God’s people throughout Alberta is very much appreciated. Please continue to pray for CCBC and their new pastor.
