Genesis 41:41-57
Reflect
What a scene – Joseph rises to power! Pharaoh’s declaration, the giving of the signet, clothed with garments of fine linen, adorned with a gold chain around his neck, the chariot, and assigning a new name to Joseph. With such a ceremony, there is no doubt by the Egyptian population that Joseph was the real deal. Who would’ve known that Joseph would start off as a slave before becoming second to Pharaoh?
In many ways, our lives can look like rollercoasters. We may have times where we are emotionally healthy and afloat in the face of life’s challenges, but there are other times where we’re completely downcast and paralyzed, times we hear of unexpected news, and seasons where we have great relationships, and others where relationships are broken.
When we’re placed in difficult circumstances, we as believers are given promises from God that will always reign true. It’s not always easy, and it requires faithful perseverance, but the reward is unmatched. If we remain faithful, the promises will be fulfilled either presently or eternally. There is nothing to lose, and everything to gain. For Joseph, he waited patiently, discerned through divine appointments, and trusted in the Lord.
