Genesis 42:1-38
Reflect
When Joseph’s brothers plotted to kill Joseph, they thought they were putting to death the dreams that Joseph had, the one regarding his brothers bowing down to him. But their plan to kill his dream was one part of the journey to this dream actually coming true. Because of what happened and the events afterwards, Joseph is now in a place of authority where he can actually help save his family’s lives. Even though the brothers don’t recognize Joseph, they end up bowing down to him in this passage and the dream comes true.
Sometimes it can seem like a dream that God gave us has died, or maybe it even seems like there are people out there actively trying to make that dream die. But maybe, in God’s sovereignty, this is all a part of the plan to make this dream actually come true (which can be really hard to see if you’re still in the middle of the story).
