Devotional Guide for Tuesday, July 11

Exodus 2:11-25

Reflect

Moses may be grown up, but he lacks maturity and wisdom. Within him is a God ordained sense of justice and a desire to rescue the oppressed. However, in this chapter we see how Moses attempts to work this out in his own strength and discernment. Until his heart for justice is later connected with the Spirit of God and His purposes, Moses’ own purpose and calling remains hidden in a foreign wilderness where maturity and wisdom can grow.

As young people, we may recognize hopes and passions within ourselves, but we lack the understanding and life experience to see how they can be expressed within God’s purposes. Seasons change, and the ways in which we previously lived out our purpose can also change. And, we may have long ago grown discouraged and buried our passions in a wilderness of forgotten dreams. But God has not forgotten. Today, take some time to recall the dreams of your childhood and the passions of your youth. Are there elements of these things that remain in you today that you are actively living into? Is there a dream or passion the Holy Spirit wants to remind you of? Who can you encourage today in their passion and purpose, that God’s kingdom may come in close through those in your community?
