Exodus 5:22-6:27

Reflect

God’s chosen people were discouraged and frustrated because their situation went from bad to worse, even though they were assured that God was at work. Moses was also frustrated, yet God assured him that “because of my mighty hand”, and because “I am the Lord”, “I will bring you out”, “I will redeem you”. Even with this assurance, the people would not listen to Moses because of their harsh labour.

We have God’s promises, and yet we are often impatient when we look at our circumstances. We don’t want to hear “God is in control” when times get tough. In His perfect timing, God did fulfil everything He had promised – like He always does. God will fulfil His promises in our lives as well – in His time. We need to trust that God is doing what is best for us, try to bring Him honour each day, remember He will not abandon us, and look to Him as our God and Redeemer – the One who will bring us “out”.

“Through it all Oh, through it all Oh, I've learned to trust in Jesus I've learned to trust in God Through it all Oh, through it all Oh, I've learned to depend upon His word.”
