Devotional Guide for Thursday, July 20

Exodus 7:14-24

Reflect

We serve a God who is abundant in mercy and grace. Here, in this first plague God begins to show Pharaoh and the people of Egypt the resolve that He has in His purpose to set His chosen people free. The water of the Nile becomes unusable; it will not support life. The people who rely upon the Nile for an easily accessible source of water will need to find other ways to provide the water needed for daily living. We see the beginning of God’s plan involving a merciful indicator of His power and intention.

We are reminded in Scripture that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. God remains merciful, He gets our attention through different means to show us where we may need to pay attention to certain aspects of our life.

Are there ways that God is directing us to pay attention? Where might God in His mercy be calling you to look to Him?
