Exodus 8:1-32

Reflect

Frogs would have been devastating to the land, especially when Egypt was characterized by its extreme cleanliness. The frogs would have been found in almost every imaginable place from ovens to troughs. Even when the Lord had stopped the infiltration of frogs, these amphibians died and were collected in mounds, and the nation would have had an unbearable and foul stench. One would think that after that experience, the gnats and the flies would have gotten the attention of Pharaoh, but nothing moved his heart of stone.

Our family recently traveled to San Francisco for a family wedding, and it was an adventure traveling with two kids. As the plane climbed higher, there was excitement; as the plane dipped lower, there was uneasiness, as if their breakfast was trying to escape. It reminded me of an important instrument on a plane – the attitude indicator. This tool shows the plane’s position in relationship to the horizon.
How many times does it take for God to get Pharaoh’s attention to climb up above the horizon rather than doing a nose-dive crash? The hardness of his heart inevitably leads to worse outcomes than just a bunch of frogs, gnats, and flies.

How has God been getting your attention to prevent you from a nose-dive crash?
